The Oktoberfest began in Munich in 1810, as a celebration to commemorate the marriage of Prince Ludwig I of Bavaria and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen. Since then, things have changed. Today it is in fact the largest popular festival in the world. It is a long history, but another thing that has also changed is its duration. Originally it lasted five days, but now the party-goers of the world have extended it to the two weeks we know today.

One of the highlights of this festival is the irresistible German cuisine: Frankfurt sausages, pork knuckle, grilled ribs, Bavarian Emmental cheese, salads and, of course, the unmissable, the classic German desserts like strudels. In addition, all the food will be accompanied by the star of the party: traditional Bavarian beer, in huge quantities and served in 1-litre (called Maß) and even 2-litre mugs.
